To some extent that's also a result of the stage where we passed each other's work through rewrites. I commented on a sentence that Will Boucher singled out that is a result of both us thrashing through the cadence.
Thanks so much Bradley, it's gratifying to have your appreciation, bud.
I think it's always an experiment and something to learn from. And yes finding someone like Murph but not him exactly was key to the satisfaction of it all. We have similar tastes and proclivities but are different enough to zig and zag and make it up as we go. I think our process was also key in developing a shared vision but a loose construct that could bend or even break if needed.
I loved Vestiges. Man, it was amazing! The world and the characters stayed with me between episodes and are still with me. This story is one I’ll think about often. The two of you were a perfect team and the collaboration worked so well. Is it the first you’ve done together? It seemed so smooth, like a long-time partnership.
Thank you so much Liz, if even one person took as much enjoyment as that it is completely worth it for us - not that it wasn't fun enough in itself.
It was in fact our first collaboration but we definitely clicked together in having either similar, or different but complementary, tastes in artistic and literary works. The key thing was also the trust in each others' ability and sincerity in wanting to make it a good piece, so there was no ego-tripping to get in the way of that.
There may well be other collabs but they're likely to be of a somewhat different nature.
I learned about stranger danger. ⚠️
The collab was so good that not only was the content amazing, but the individual voices were so sublimated as to be indistinguishable. Bravo.

Really cool. Even after countless collaborations I struggle with the trust. I always want final cut.

I was gonna insert some zen-like pronouncement about submerging the self but you probably already have heard all that.
So I'll just say look for someone as cool as Jon to work with. Like him, though. Not him exactly.
A cool look behind the making of a cool series :)
Thank you Michael we're hoping it encourages others to take the plunge and have a go.
Loved Vestiges! Was looking forward to this "how the sausage was made" post. Makes me want to go back and re-read
Thanks Will, it was right fun to do. Glad you enjoyed it.
It pleases me greatly that you enjoyed it
If you go back, you can probably tell who took each character, even though we ended up doing a lot of blending
Now that I’m privy to how this thing came to be, I’m curious what I’ll learn on round 2

That trust, and it was definitely not misplaced, is a rare and precious gem. So glad you two found each other for this collaboration.
